George and I celebrated National Train Day by riding the Green Line to the Blue Line to the Red Line and getting off at Union Station, Los Angeles.

Union Station had a number of exhibits. The Scottish Thistle is a really ritzy private train car that can be chartered for private functions (I believe they quoted $4800. for 39 passengers on a trip from LA-Union Station to San Diego and back).

After enjoying the exhibits at Union Station, we rode Metrolink to the San Bernardino Station, where there were more exhibits.

Then we made our way home -- riding Metrolink to Union Station, to the Red Line, the Blue Line, then the Green Line back to Redondo Beach. After we arrived home, Zack commented that he understood why we took long walks (It helped us stay in shape), but what was the point in riding the trains through the LA Basin all day. He just doesn't understand the joy in being retired.
